2015 New Years Resolutions

Its time to set some 2015 resolutions but first let’s take a look back at our 2014.

1. Eat more healthy and get in shape.  This one was hard.  I will say I have gotten better….though not where i need to be.  In other words, I stopped buying the mint oreos but I still have a ways to go.

2. Learn to cook more meals and Cook meals for my family.  Im very happy to say that I have been cooking a bunch more then I use to.  I have a collection of my favorite recipes I’ve tried and am more comfortable in the kitchen.  I also have been baking a lot more as well!  You can see some of my favorite cookies to make here.

3.  Invest more time and energy into Peepsake  Studios.  I would say Im happy with what Ive done this year, but there is still MUCH more I want to do/accomplish.   We rebranded and changed the name to Peepsake Photography back in March and we were able to work with a bunch of amazing clients!!  We had two features this year (here, & here),  and we have an image being published in a magazine!  It has been a great year!

4.  Spend more time with Pierson!  This has been wonderful and some days very hard and challenging.  Im still working on finding the balance between work and motherhood…I say this as a 2 year old is bouncing on the edge of my lap, bumping into my computer and playing with trucks beside of me.   We had a great year filled with playing in possibly the largest snow fall we’ve had in a while,  camping in the Cherokee,  yearly trip to the Grandfather Mountain Highlands Games, Camping with the Marshall’s,  a trip to the apple orchard, a visit to The Lazy 5 Ranch, A day trip to Boone, pumpkin picking, more camping, and tree picking!   It was jam packed with goodness and a few tantrums in between!

5.  Take more pictures with my big girl camera.  In explaining this resolution last year I started a 52 week project.  This was pretty hard to keep up with, Im not going to lie.  There were a few weeks that were skipped and made up for and at the end of the year It got really difficult.  I actually need to update the last 3 weeks here (I will soon) but Im SO incredibly glad I did this.  It’s been very eye opening watching Pierson grow over the course of the year in pictures.  My plan is to put together a little book for him of all the weeks.  I put some of my favorite below but you can see all the weeks here.

Now a look at some things to accomplish in 2015:

1. Continue to work towards marketing on Peepsake.  I have so many things in mind I’ve been stewing on for a while and haven’t found the time to do…  I MUST just do it.

2. Be more present.  I spend a lot of time worrying, planning, rushing, I feel like my mind is always racing.  I want to spend more time away from the technology (guilty of using my phone too much!–AND we are thinking of getting rid of cable).  As difficult as it may be I need to find a way to clear my mind and be present in each moment with my family and friends.

3. Start a daily bible plan.  I’ve read some great inspirational books this year (here and here are a few fav.) and I’ve read many plans (7 days, 20 days, etc.) but this year I want to read the whole bible in 365 days.  My aunt gave me a guideline a few months ago and I plan to start it now.

4.  Give Back.  This year I was honored to photograph a few families that had went through hard times and I want to do more of that.  I actually signed up for the Create Love Project.   A community of photographers who have decided to donate their time and talent to families who need a little extra love.  They are accepting nominations of families all across the USA so if you know someone you’d like to nominate follow the directions on their instagram!

5.  Eat Healthy and get in shape.  This one just needs to be on there again.  :)

And one more for fun….Learn to shoot film.   Paul’s cousin gifted me a wonderful film camera at his “rewind” birthday.  I’ve been holding on to it for a while and am excited to go out and experiment with it.
